Grand Final Weekend at Randwick as well as Homebush!

Saturday sees the Sydney Racing Carnival’s Grand Final with 10 stakes races including four Group 1"s. These are the days that all breeders are aiming for and this year fortunately, Kitchwin’s paddock graduates have 4 serious contenders - Patronyme, Shellscrape, Shadow Assassin and Hurtle Myrtle.

As you would understand there is so much work that goes into producing, growing and presenting a yearling for sale so it’s with enormous pride that Kitchwin and all the staff will be cheering home these four graduates. Interestingly, these four sold for a combined total of $265,000, they have already won between them $780,000 and on Saturday will compete for another $550,000  with potentially plenty more to come. Who said racing is a mugs game?

Out of interest when a mare foals at Kitchwin the owner receives a foaling report written the morning after the foal is born. Below are the comments and ratings from Mick on each of the major runners for Kitchwin tomorrow; Patronyme, Shellscrape and Shadow Assassin. Let it be known, if your foal gets anything over an 8 you should be very pleased!

Foaling reports are very important, evaluating a foal at birth plays a big role over the coming months when assesing confirmation, growth and over all health. Comments on the foal at birth are made on size, confirmation and overall quality of the foal. A foal born with quality will often go through a number of changes throughout its growth as it matures but as the old saying goes "if it starts nice it finishes nice" is often very true.
