From The Paddock
Sale Entries We have just finished our entries for the 2010 major sales! Kitchwin will have record nominations next year for Easter, Magic Millions and Classic. Both sale companies have inspected the yearlings on farm and given very positive feedback. With yearlings by Danzero, Redoute"s Choice, Bel Esprit, Dane Shadow, Pins, Fastnet Rock, Encosta De Lago, Canny Lad, Rock Of Gibraltar, Flying Spur, More Than Ready, Holy Roman Emperor, Stravinsky, General Nediym, Royal Academy, Commands, Posse, Nadeem, Starcraft etc we are bound to have a horse that will suit every job. A few of the standouts are - La Baraka/Redoute"s Choice - An outstanding filly with a pedigree to match. La Baraka won the Group 1 Galaxy and has gone on to produce Alizes, winner of the Magic Night Stakes Group 2. This filly will be a stand-out come sale time. Asian Reef/Redoute"s Choice - A big loose walking, athletic colt with a tonne of bone. He"s a half brother to 3 stakes winners including the Group 1 winner Bon Hoffa. He"s bound for Easter! Waihora"s Lass/Pins - Big scopy filly out of the Group 2 winning mare Waihora"s Lass. The mare has gone on to leave the very talented Zabeel filly Legible who has now produced the up and coming superstar Trusting, winner of the Warwick Stakes and 2nd in the Group 1 Golden Rose this season. Ike"s Dream/Flying Spur - This colt is the first foal of the super race mare Ike"s Dream who is the winner of six races including the Group 1 Villers. An extremely athletic colt, correct throughout, who will have huge appeal. Eishin Maysville/Canny Lad - An outstanding colt with a massive pedigree, Eishin Maysville is a half sister to Holy Roman Emperor, Milanova, etc. Naughty Girl/Dane Shadow - A lovely filly, very strong throughout with great bone. Naughty Girl is a half sister to the Group 1 winner Royal Purler (Flight Stakes). Layette/Dane Shadow - This filly has the Magic Millions written all over her, very precocious and strong throughout - she will be a hit at the sale. Layette, by Thunder Gulch, is a half sister to Kimillsy (3rd Gr1 Flight Stakes) and group placed Delyara, this is her second foal. Kisma/Dane Shadow - This bloke is a full brother to Shellscrape and as tough. He"s a replica of his brother and has the same laidback attitude. He"s a ripper! The Buster heads south
Back in June Shellscrape went to Queensland to steal some black type and $65k from the Queenslanders. Now the Queenslander Shadow Buster is out to get some cash back. Pictured above is Shadow Buster"s full brother born at Kitchwin 2 weeks ago. On Wednesday the Troy Hall trained Shadow Buster will attempt to win the Group 3 Spring Stakes at Newcastle. After an amazing finish last start where he was 20 lengths off the leaders to be just beaten 2.1 lengths, Shadow Buster goes into the race a real chance to grab the $113,750 first prize cheque - rumour is that premier jockey Hugh Bowman has grabbed the ride... Foal of the Week
Foal of the Week this week is out of the super mare La Baraka. Long time Kitchwin favourite year in year out we await her foals with anticipation. This year she has definitely not let us down with this cracking Commands filly. Some say the best she"s ever had (Mick). It"s one we will look forward to following over the years. Weekend Acceptances Whilst it is likely that Best Bets, The Winning Post and The Sportsman will remain in publication for a little while yet , they must be shaking in their boots after "From The Paddock"s" performance last Saturday.
