From The Paddock

Is "From The Paddock" and Dane Shadow fast becoming the punters pal?

Vain Shadow (ex Tedious) backed up from the fast finishing second at Gosford last Thursday to win with a leg in the air yesterday at Hawkesbury. Trailing the Gai Waterhouse favourite Samui Lad ($3.40) by 3 lengths into the straight Vain Shadow ($4.60) ran her down like a horse going places to win by a length going away.

Right - who"s next!!

Tomorrow at Randwick sees the running of the first Group race for the season with the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes over 100m. Shellscrape, born and bred at Kitchwin and a major contributor to the $3.8m won by Kitchwin"s 2YO paddock graduates in 2008/09 puts himself up as a major chance.

There is a heap of speed on in this race which may present a few problems for Shellscrape (pictured above) however reports from Chris Waller are suggesting the horse has grown into a very strong 3YO who could do anything from here. Hugh Bowman has taken the ride and Kitchwin would like to wish its very loyal and much liked owners Geoff and Mary Grimish all the best.

Great Fun, Great Atmosphere & Great Result

The Linga Longa Inn at Gundy was a hive of activity on Sunday when it hosted the Charity Stud Olympics. Attracting 24 teams from across the area to fight it out in events including an Iron Man Challenge, Slam Dunk Bungee, Wrap and Rug the Brumby and "Are you smarter than a 10 year old" quiz in order to raise funds towards Craig Goozee who is currently running, cycling and kayaking around Australia to raise money for the Children"s Cancer Institute of Australia A2B4C foundation. With approximately 300 people in attendance the whole event was followed by an auction which proved to be extremely successful. Thanks to everyone"s participation and generosity we managed to raise $15,000. The positive feedback has helped us confirm that the Linga Longa Olympics will become an annual event. It appears that teams intend to go into training much earlier next year!
