Queenin a good caper for Kitchwin
18-Dec-2008

Queenin Caper continued to pay dividends for Kitchwin Hills Stud when she scored her second win from three starts at Betfair Park yesterday.

The filly is a half-sister to former top two year-old Victory Vein, winner of the Gr1 AJC Sire Produce Stakes and Gr1 Champagne Stakes, and was purchased by Kitchwin at the 2007 Inglis Easter Sale for $210,000.

By Exceed And Excel out of Protective (by Brief Truce), her dam was retired this season after foaling a filly by Dubai Destination, with Clarry Conners buying this year"s yearling at Easter for $440,000.

Gary Fennessy, representing trainer David Hayes, was pleased with the effort but said that Queenin Caper had plenty to learn about racing.

"She stepped away again slowly today which was a bit of a surprise," he said.

"Her last start was one to forget as she got hit across the face and checked off runners."

"I think she can go on and win another couple of races, it"s hard to get a line on her, she"s a bit temperamental, she does a lot of machine work to calm her down and keep her in a good mood."
