Redoute's Choice Filly in Impressive Debut
13-May-2010

Expensive Redoute"s Choice filly Ringstrasse made an impressive career debut in Wednesday"s Lady Pirouette Handicap (1000m) at Sandown.

The Lee Freedman-trained filly ploughed through the heavy conditions to defeat stablemate She Likes To Rock (Fastnet Rock) by a length with Magic Of Emma (Bianconi) a nose back in third.

Racing in the colours of Sheikh Mohammed, Ringstrasse was knocked down to Darley for $900,000 at the 2009 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sales from the draft of Kitchwin Hills.

Bred by Neil Werrett, Ringstrasse is a three-quarter brother to Group 1 winner and promising first season sire Snitzel as well as the Group 3 winner Viennese.

He is the first foal of the stakes-placed More Than Ready mare Wiener, who was purchased by Kitchwin Hills on behalf of Werrett for $1.25 million at the 2007 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. She was carrying Ringstrasse at the time.

Twelve months previously, Wiener sold at this same sale for $600,000 with Badger"s Bloodstock signing the ticket.

Wiener, Snitzel and Viennese are all out of the stakes-placed Snippets mare Snippets" Lass, whose seventh and final foal, Hinchinbrook, is doing a fine job of upholding the family tradition.

The 2YO son of Fastnet Rock has won 2 of his 5 starts to date including the Skyline Stakes (G3) and was third in the Pago Pago Stakes (G2) won by Brightexpectations, fourth behind Crystal Lily in the Golden Slipper Stakes (G1) and third behind Yosei in the AJC Sires" Produce Stakes (G1) at his most recent start.

Snippets" Lass died shortly after foaling Hinchinbrook who races as a homebred for Francois Naude. With two stakes-winning sons three daughters breeding on Snippets" Lass has left a fine legacy.

Wiener has a yearling sister to Ringstrasse and was bred back to Encosta De Lago in 2009 after slipping the previous year.

Her year younger half-sister, the winning Royal Academy mare Royal Snippets, missed to Redoute"s Choice at her first season at stud while Viennese is in foal to Street Cry (IRE).
