From The Paddock
Significant Week
You are no doubt fully aware by now that Kitchwin has moved on the blue-blooded entire Duporth to join Dane Shadow on the stud’s stallion roster. Over the last few years we have knocked back many other stallion opportunities waiting for the right horse to stand alongside Dane Shadow. Why? • Kitchwin is mindful that it"s loyal clientele have come to expect a continued level of excellence and quality that reflects the ever increasing image and profile of our brand. Duporth is a perfect fit and will enhance the market"s perception of Kitchwin overall. • It goes with out saying that Kitchwin is determined to achieve at the highest possible level - it"s important to us, as it is to our clients. We see Duporth going a long way in providing the platform for all involved to continue toward the next level in what is an extremely competitive industry. Dane Shadow has already been rated # 1 by Timeform with regard to Australasian stallions upgrading their mares which is an incredible pointer to the future. His bloodlines of Danehill and Centaine are clearly coming through. So why do we believe Duporth is the right horse to stand next to him? Simply - Speed • Duporth was a Group 1 winner of BTC Stakes (Gr1) and Golden Rose(now Gr1), including the San Domenico Gr2, (a Stallions race previously won by, General Nediym, Charge Forward, Testa Rossa, Our Maizcay etc ) • He beat Apache Cat at weight for age at Group 1 level. • He won the Golden Rose which is shaping up to become a “Sire’s” race nowadays. • Duporth is the highest rated 3yo son of Red Ransom to go to Stud @125, Charge Forward 124 and Onemorenomore at 118. Bloodlines • From a star in the form of Staging, group winning daughter of Success Express (a highly sort after broodmare sire). • He is a half to Group 1 winning Excites and Group 2 winning Tickets. (If Tickets converts to a Group 1 then Staging joins Shantha"s Choice as the only other active mare in Australia to have produced three Gr1winners). • Red Ransom is becoming a sire of sires - Charge Forward, Domesday, All American, Onemorenomore, Duporth etc. • THE DANEHILL CROSS IS ALREADY PROVING TO WORK Alan Porter -www.stallions.com.au We’ve written recently that the Hail to Reason line through Red Ransom and More Than Ready, looks like being Australia’s best shot at a male line outcross for Northern Dancer, and particularly the overwhelming influence of Danzig, particularly through Danehill and his sons. Duporth, whose only Northern Dancer strain will be in the sixth dam of his foals, and who is half-brother to two top-class runners by sons of Danehill, looks very well-situated to take advantage of the situation. • Success Express, Duporth’s dam sire, was rated the Fastest 2yr old in the world enhancing the pedigree’s speed factor. Type • Many leading industry judges have touted that on type Duporth is one of the best looking stallion prospect they have ever seen. • An outstanding individual, if he can replicate himself through his offspring, breeders will reap the rewards in the sale ring. • Duporth’s size (16.2) makes him an extremely suitable outcross to Danehill line mares. A factor most commercial outcross stallions have difficulty achieving. throughout his immediate family! • Duporth is an imposing strong, forward Stallion, a trait seen throughout his immediate family! Value • He will be competitively priced compared to contemporaries Onemorenomore and All American. It’s worth noting that Duporth is the only one of this high-class trio to win a Group 1 at the 1200m-sprint distance • Where else do you get such performance, type and at the same time such a pedigree? The Wombat"s Whisper
Poms from The Peninsula Lee Freedman - 5 Melbourne Cups, 4 Slippers, 4 Caulfield Cups, 2 Cox Plates and a Kings Stand - Enough said??? NO I think one of his finest training performances was to get Fanjura to the winners stall on Saturday at Caulfield, 1st up in Australia at 1700m! YES he also did it in May at 1600m with the exciting Speed Gifted first up and he has since gone on to better things. Sound Of Nature from the "Ball and Chain" syndicate also looks like he could have a Gr1 in him. Go back to the run behind Rangi at Valley on Cox Plate day, incidentally, he is running in Adelaide Race 7. This weekend they keep coming, the Markdel marsupial did inform the Wombat that Fanjura acclimatised best to Australian conditions. The three Melbourne runners this week are MR 1 H4 Savarin having his first run in 541 days at 2000m. Above Average by High Chaparral R7 H2 and Ajhar R7 H9 are over a mile and are having their first runs for around 200 days. While we need to put a "Camel Alert" on some of these runners, I am going to re-invest some of the Fanjura proceeds in very small bets on the "Poms from The Peninsula". 3YO racing hots up with the Rosehill Guineas. The Master has Rock Classic in the Rosehill Guineas and I won"t compare him to an international superstar this week after I got Faint Perfume beaten. I know that Shoot Out keeps beating Captain Sonador but the margins don"t justify the fact that Shoot Out is always close to favourite and The Captain is at double digit odds. I will stick with Captain Sonador for the value again this week. The slipper picture is unclear, Star Witness was buried last week while Military Rose is brilliant, unbeaten and magnificent - I still think it is hard to pick the winner. General Nediym looks like continuing the recent history of outstanding post humus results from stallions with a Queensland connection. He has the Slipper favourite, but there are four other "Generals" engaged in Sydney 2YO races tomorrow!! Best of luck tomorrow and congratulations on Duporth, his dam Staging funded the Wombat through Uni in the 90s! Player Profile

Set an impossible task last start and although drawn poorly here it wouldn"t surprise to see her improve sharply at big odds. Each way. Good luck to her breeder Barry Broomhead. Super impressive first up winning her maiden with ease and propping up all those smart FTP readers who followed the good oil. Gets quickly to 1600m here but the way she won her maiden suggests that won"t be a problem. Exciting prospect!!! Good luck to her breeder Carl Holt. STC 5.30pm Race 9 Birthday Card S. Gr.3, A$125000 1200m Patronyme (AUS) 2004 (F. by More Than Ready-Descendant) - Sold at 2006 Magic Millions Yearling Sale for $70,000. Up against two very smart fillies here in Melito and Beaded. Failed last start after being super impressive first up. If she brings her "A game" she"ll be super competitive. I really like the other two as well as Illuminates, who, along with Beaded has form around last week"s Gr 1 winner Alverta. Good luck to her breeders, the Rohans.
