Stallions - Why pay away every year?

One of the great pleasures in owning a racehorse or a broodmare who has a weekend runner is knowing that a win can bring with it far reaching impact on long term valuations, far exceeding the prize money earned on that particular day. We all no doubt relish these moments and it"s one reason we love this game.

The beauty of owning a stallion share is that you are able to get this thrill in some cases 7 days a week, 364 days a year. Having a share in a young stallion proving himself is a must have experience if you are a breeder. Join the right team, get the stallion right and whilst having a ball along the way, it can actually produce an economic windfall.

If Dane Shadow"s service fee never rises a cent from here, his investors are set to receive an annual return equal to the price paid for their shares - it is conceivable that the annual income will prove to be multiples of this initial investment. For years now, Kitchwin Hills have been patiently seeking the ideal stallion to stand alongside Dane Shadow. We are currently working on a number of stallion opportunities - if you are interested in joining the team, please let us know.

Why not invest your annual service fees into your own future income stream rather than someone else"s?

Patronyme wins The Triscay Stakes

Congratulations to Peter, Paul and Ant Rohan who bred their first stakes winner on Saturday when hot favourite Patronyme won the listed Triscay Stakes over 1200m at Rosehill. She will now be set for the Group One Coolmore Classic and Group One Queen of the Turf Stakes - both for fillies and mares later in the Autumn. This tough, on-pace mare is set to add to her impressive record of only ever missing a place once in 11 starts throughout her career.

Easter Yearling Highlights

Xaarbarella/Dane Shadow 08 - This bloke is so much like his dad its not funny! One of the best walking colts we will have sold this year, great bone, his dad"s colour and an impressive head. A second foal of the Xaarbarella mare (guess her sire!) who was the winner of four races, and stems from the strong Smytzers family.

Asian Reef/Redoute"s Choice 08 - Not often do we see mares produce 7 to race - all winners including Bon Hoffa Group 1 winner (Rupert Clark), Before Too Long Group 2 winner (Champagne Stakes) and Okanui Listed winner (Triscay Stakes). This colt, by super sire Redoute’s Choice, will head to Easter with huge appeal.

Bibury Flyer/Flying Spur 08 - Outstanding is what they will be saying about this filly. The 2nd foal from the UK Stakes winning mare Bibury Flyer (by Zafonic), this Flying Spur filly is a cracker, all but impossible to fault. Bibury Flyer, amazingly raced 22 times as a two year old with a record of 3 wins -  two at stakes level and 11 times placed all as two year old, now that’s tough!! Bibury Flyer only had 3 more starts as a three year old where she ran 3rd in the Dubai Thousand Guineas.

The Wombat"s Whisper

Star Witness wobbled around the turn like the Wombat after the Reds victory. He went towards the outside rail allowing Nick Hall to win the fashions then in a blinding flash won the Blue Diamond with an incredible turn of foot...

We will digress from Melbourne at the moment, and be happy to come back with a bumper edition next week on "Super Saturday Eve". Things are getting exciting even without the time bandit "So You Think" and I have even secured a "mosh pit" ticket to see Peter Moody live on stage next Thursday and as I write, my "Reisling" gets warm like "65 in the SLIPPER.

If you saw a 3YO that had run second multiple times to Denman would you back him? If he defeated So You Think in track record time would you consider it? If he was also beaten to third place against older horses First Command and Turffontein on a dead track would this be good form?

MORE THAN GREAT
In Sydney on Saturday there is a horse in the Hobartville who hates High Chaparral. More Than Great needed to smash a Randwick track record to beat "So You" by a nose last time in and 2 weeks ago he was nailed on the line by Shoot Out also by "High Chap". A lot needs to be said for High Chaparral, two Breeders Cups and one in 40 degree heat sure is tough for an Irish son of Sadlers Wells. The fact that he actually sired 2YO winners in this part of the world is also amazing and they have gone on to do better things at 3! Forget that Monaco Consul is struggling at present the legacy for this Stallion is amazing and some may have written them off as Camels, after Galileo and Montjeu only had minor success given the quality of mares.

More Than Great is out of a mare by one of two really impressive slipper winners Luskin Star. Then the pedigree is ex a Better Boy mare ex a Rego mare! A Better Boy x Rego cross produced the champion horse and sire Century. YES I banged on a bit about that line last week. YES you can find it at Kitchwin through Dane Shadow"s dam sire Centaine. I did not aim to come to this when I looked at the race, but More Than Great is a tough 3YO and the Wombat is a fan! The Nasrullah x Djebel cross is what we have witnessed in the last 2 weeks. My Babu x Rego and more recently Centaine x Pompeii Court. No wonder it all works well with Last Tycoon as his dam line hails from Never Bend who is the best example of the cross!

Interesting stuff appears in most pedigrees, but More Than Great puts in and tries in every race, the only time he has run a bad one was when he was smashed in the Coolmore at the 800m mark and YES, I was silly enough to back him vs Shellscrape that day! I think he can beat Shoot Out if the track is good. Given the summer campaign and Magic Millions, Shoot Out had the fitness edge and track to suit last start. More Than Ready has wet track luminaries such as Phelan Ready to his credit. I do however think that More Than Great is better on top of the ground. Go back to the TRACK RECORD Ming Dynasty victory giving 1.5kg to So You Think on Sep 5, this is a great guide and blinkers are applied for the first time!

Sydney Autumn really heats up tomorrow. Good luck to all!

Farm Conditions Update

Unfortunately no rainfall has been recorded on the farm this week.
